About Bible Sketch

Our Story

Hi, I'm Renaud Gagne, the founder of Bible Sketch. I'm a Christian, a father of four children (all under age 8), and part of a homeschooling family. If you've ever tried to teach the story of Daniel in the Lions' Den to a room full of energetic six-year-olds, you know the struggle. The wiggles are real. In our house, we call this the "chaos hour."

I built Bible Sketch because I needed a way to channel that energy into something focused, quiet, and meaningful—without spending hours prepping the night before. As someone who teaches God's Big Story curriculum at St. Timothy's Anglican Bible Church, I understand firsthand the challenge of finding specific artwork for obscure verses or particular lessons.

My core philosophy is simple: "Slowness is sacred." I believe in using imagination to meditate on God's Word. I value "slow theology" over fast consumption. When my 5-year-old colors the word "GRACE" in our Verse Art tool, he isn't just seeing the word; he is physically tracing the shape of it. This builds the fine motor skills needed for handwriting while planting the scripture deep in his memory. It's handwriting practice and theology, all rolled into one.

Our Mission

Bible Sketch exists to solve a common problem for ministry leaders and parents: finding specific artwork for specific Bible verses. Rather than searching through limited pre-made collections, users generate fresh content on demand.

We designed the platform with two distinct tools to cover different ministry needs:

• Scene Art: Visual storytelling and biblical narrative. Best used for Sunday School lessons, VBS history, and teaching complex stories.
• Verse Art: Typography and scripture memorization. These designs are ideal for memory verses, meditation, and relaxation.

Our values center on biblical accuracy, educational development, and accessibility. We believe that every child should have access to quality resources that help them engage with Scripture in meaningful ways.

What Makes Bible Sketch Different

The platform utilizes generative AI to interpret biblical text and render it into high-resolution line art suitable for printing. A key feature is the ability to adjust the "complexity level" of the output, ensuring the content is developmentally appropriate:

• Toddlers (Ages 2–4): Produces thick lines and large, simple shapes. Focuses on central characters with minimal background noise.
• Children (Ages 5–10): Storybook-style illustrations. Balances character detail with background elements.
• Teens (Ages 11–17): Dynamic, graphic-novel style compositions with "Comic Book" aesthetics.
• Adults (18+): Intricate, stained glass-style or fine-art detail. Designed for stress relief, meditation, and extended coloring sessions.

Creating a page takes about a minute. You select your tool, enter the scripture, choose the audience and an art style, and generate. Then download or print your page.

Trust & Accuracy

Look, I'm a dad, and I'm protective of what my kids see. We've put guardrails on our AI to respect the Bible, but technology isn't perfect. I always tell parents: treat this like a partnership. Generate the image, take a second to look at it (maybe chuckle if Noah has an extra finger), and then hit print. Trust, but verify.

Our AI is prompted with strict guardrails to respect the context of scripture. However, as with all AI tools, we recommend reviewing the image to ensure it aligns with your theological interpretation before printing. We acknowledge that AI is a non-deterministic technology, and while we implement safety filters, the output may occasionally require review.

Content generated on Bible Sketch is cleared for use in non-commercial ministry settings, including Sunday School classes, church bulletins, and VBS packets. Churches can print unlimited copies for their classes.
